CD Vol. 7

A Truck Photographer’s Diary, Vol. 7–On The Road Again-Truck Stop 2, is a photo album on Compact Disc featuring truck photos that is intended to provide historic photographic documentation of trucks from a bygone era, the 1950s and 1960s.

The photo album contains a potpourri of images. The first section contains company photos from the late-1950s to early-1960s. The second section is comprised of photos that David A. Bontrager took in the late-1950s and early 1960s. The third section is a photo essay of Everly, Inc., a livestock hauler from Bourbon, Indiana. The name was originally Duane Everly, and was changed to Everly, Inc. sometime in the mid-sixties. The photos in this section were taken between 1961 and the mid-sixties.

The album contains 100 images, mostly black and white with some color photos. Most of the photos in sections 2 and 3 were taken by author David A. Bontrager, who is well-known for his classic and unique images of trucks and trains from the 1950s through the present day. This is an excellent sampling of his private collection of truck photos.

The CD has been completely rebuilt with all new scans of the original images with a higher technology scanner. All photos are in pristine condition and will view excellent on screen, and will view larger than the original CD. A few may be less than perfect, but I feel the historic value of the trucks shown out weighs the technical aspects of the photo.

Trucking was much different in the Fifties and Sixties than it is today. Not only was the industry different during the regulation era, but the equipment, technology, and even the people were different. The documentation contained herein focuses on the equipment.
