TPD-26

A Truck Photographer’s Diary, Vol. 26–Cool Rides 11, is the eleventh in a series of CD photo albums featuring photos of cool trucks.

Most of the 153 photos were taken in Effingham, Illinois, with a few taken at other locations. All were taken in 2007. Most were taken by David A. Bontrager, who is well-known for his classic and unique images of trucks from the 1950s through the present day. This is an excellent sampling of his private collection of truck photos.

The album includes five sections: 1. The first section contains 45 photos featuring spread-axle reefers and were taken by Dave and Anna Bontrager. 2. The second section contains 38 photos featuring mostly flatbeds, step decks, and lowboys, with a few dump trucks included. All of these photos were taken by Dave Bontrager. 3. The third section contains 29 photos featuring tractor only views, and were taken by Dave Bontrager. 4. The fourth section contains 20 photos featuring expeditors, with a couple of miscellaneous straight trucks included. All of these were taken by Dave Bontrager. 5. The fifth section contains 21 photos featuring Reliable Carriers. These were taken by Dave and Anna Bontrager and Bill Arseneau.

Times have changed for getting good photos of trucks in truck stops due to the tight parking, making it extremely difficult getting clean views. Most of the photos in this album are action shots, with most being close-up views. Thanks to high-technology digital SLR cameras all of the photos are beautiful clean shots with a nice backdrop.

The images are in pristine condition and will view excellently on screen. A few may be slightly less than perfect, but I feel the historic value of the trucks shown out weighs the technical aspects of the photo.
